How Unicode changes the world, one script at a time
Michael Everson linked to this article on the BBC website about how Ethiopians are now able to use SMS (text messaging) in the Ge’ez script, which is used for Amharic and some other languages in the region. Quite amazing to see such technologies start to get used in daily life.
